Yeah, Sao, that makes sense. Used to really enjoy a cold beer on a hot day, after cutting the grass or working on the car or something.
Of course after you've enjoyed about 27 cold beers...

I guess it's not so much the temperature as the bright clear sunshine which I love....versus grey, overcast, and dreary, which I have always found very depressing, and always made me want to drink.

Okay, I'm awake now. It's 9:30 so you would think, huh?

I loved Nons post. How many threads do we see here and on the F&F side where an alcoholic is still bargaining with the alcohol? We are a stubborn lot, I'll give us that!

So many little tricks I tried, because of course I wanted to continue to drink responsibly and not suffer the consequences. The consequences of ingesting a deadly toxic poison. What was I thinking? It's pretty slippery.

The changes in my inner landscape, how I talk to myself, what I'm willing to tolerate or to dwell on have changed completely. How I feel on a daily basis is calm and quiet as opposed to frantic and fearful. Not even a close contest.

You know there are songs...where's LBrain?

I'm with you DesertDawg ,

Although i live in the dark grey wet northland of the UK the little bit I'm in has a micro climate going on , the big horizons and winds help blow the fresh air thro my head when i get to the miles beach just up the road .

Portugal , spain or italy are on the radar as places to retire too , long roads leading to the whole of europe , the whole world .
My work is pretty technical so learning a language to that complexity is a turn off so i've got to wait 10 years until i can retire, feel like i'm turning circles sometimes here ..
All there is here , is the time of my life

I'm in for another sober weekend Sao. With every one that passes, I feel a little bit stronger.

Gotta love change...I'll be hitting 2 months of sobriety this weekend...now THAT'S change for me!

A couple months ago I would have been gearing up for another drunken weekend, spending the days in bed, hungover, feeling guilty...depressed...ashamed...thinking that the madness has to stop! Thanks be to God that isn't the case today.

Enjoy!

I'm in. MidnightBlue, it's so exciting to have a new washing machine. Congratulations! Sounds like you've got a lot of positive stuff going on in your life now.

Good intro, Sao. Change is hard. I hate change. I also hated being in pain so I had to weigh which pain was worse. As I go along, the change can be uncomfortable at times but nothing in comparison with my last days of drinking.

I'll be around. I've got stuff planned this weekend, and have a three day weekend because I have a meeting at my son's school tomorrow.

Welcome to Weekenders SoberBella1 good to see you.

Change is uncomfortable but being hungover, ill, broke and full of regrets is much more so.

I'm down. There is zero chance I'll drink this weekend. I have my son and that's all I need.

Bit peeved our washing machine is no longer working keeps tripping the switch at the electric box after I changed the fuse - looks like I'm at the launderette tomorrow till we buy a new one - to make matters worse I spilled the fresly made jelly moving the fridge to move the washing machine - all over the vegtables

People of a sensitive nature or who might feel down about the world remember the world is a safer place than it was in the past.

Nearly all people from all creeds and cultures wish no one any harm,
they want food , a job , a roof over their heads , education for their children , clean water, a place where old people can shuffle down the street and kids play.

As addicts, alcoholics , whatever... we can be like lightning conductors for bad news , drama and negative feelings .

Nurture your love and compassion , protect your sobriety from depression and despair .

Optimism, joy, fun, love, bonhomie, folksiness and laughter will prevail .

You might try troubleshooting it online Soberwolf before you splash out on a new one. I managed to fix my tumble dryer this way. If it keeps tripping it could be something simple. A few words about troubleshooting plus your make and model are usually enough.
