Day 1
I have been lurking here all week after finding this site through searching for success stories. I am a 36 year old alcoholic. I've never admitted that to anyone. My relationship with alcohol began at 15 but I was not a daily drinker until the last two years when my husband was diagnosed with a chronic health condition and I reached for comfort in a bottle. Mostly beer and wine but lately the hard stuff too.
So today is Day 1 and while I am scared of what's to come I am hopeful that I can gain freedom from this horrible way I have been living.

Welcome,
I came to the site after relapsing and the support i got was paramount to me getting back on the wagon. Im 36 and also an alcoholic. Ive only been sober 48 days, however the site helped me get back on track and I seriously recommend seeking out AA. I thought I could do it on my own and AA was definitely not on my list, but the support is invaluable and kept me on the right track while getting to the bottom of my issues.
Im sorry to hear of your husbands illness and I cant imagine the strain thats puts on you, but reaching out on here is a perfect first step. PM if you need to chat.
Stick with it and plenty of seasoned recovering on alcoholics on here to give you guidance

Hi Freedom17, I'm so sorry for what you're dealing with in taking care of your husband. I know how hard it is to take care of someone full time.
I'm also starting Day 1 today, so I wanted to encourage you to stick to your guns in quitting. You can do this! There are so many wonderfully supportive people here, so I think we've both come to the right place.

I'm really glad you posted Freedom - welcome
for me coming here was such a relief...I had no idea there were so many people who understood and who could help me.
It meant a heck of a lot to me to know I wasn't alone
