Hi

Hi everyone, stumbled across this site while lying in bed unwell! I have been sober now for eight years. I had a massive problem with binge drinking which turned to a year of 24/7. Can seriously say it nearly killed me! Since stopping drinking I have come on leaps and bounds. Just finished Hons degree, passed driving test, so mighty boost of confidence. But at the moment I have a stomach flu, first time ever, feeling horrific. It has just hit me I feel exactly how I did when I was on a bender or drank daily, head in the toilet with dry heaves, unable to keep down solids, with the added bonus of not having guilt and paranoia. I am just now, truly realizing how I was poisoning my system with toxins for so many years and took it as part of the course. Its just awful so many people are going through this and are too scared to say anything. So I am delighted this forum exists, the more openness and sharing support the better 😁

Aud,

8 years is a lifetime w out booze.

No need to make the mistake again.

As my drinking days began to wind down, the hangovers became so horrid.

I was out of drinking practice.

I knew how to drink half a fith, but my body quickly forgot how to deal w the poison.

I read stories here about folks relapsing and quickly quitting again because the euporia wasn't as good as they remembered.

Once we start to get clean, we begin to realize clean is the right way.

Get well.

Thanks.

Audtod,

I hope that you stick around. People like me who only have 18 days must have so much to learn from your experiences.

Tony
