100 days
100 days sober today and I just wanted to say thank you to each and every one of you at SR.
I'm not the most prolific poster but I read and learn multiple times a day (and even post on occasion!)
I won't lie and say that everything is perfect but I can honestly say that my life has improved in ways I never thought possible. My health, both physical and mental, has gotten so much better. My finances are starting to look healthy though I have some way to go to repair the damage my drinking caused. My relationships are so much better, I can have a conversation and can express myself without constantly worrying am I slurring? can they smell alcohol?
I feel and look better but hands down the most important change is that I'm getting back my self respect and my dignity. I have alot more work to do in my recovery but it is absolutely the most important thing in my life. It comes before anything and anyone. It has to.
One of the most useful tools I learned at SR is playing the tape through. I've had some incredibly strong urges and if I stop, close my eyes and visualise what would happen if I were to drink it has been so effective in stopping me in my tracks.
It's early days I know but I'm building my sober muscles daily through SR and I just wanted to let you all know how thankful I am. To anyone in the early days please keep coming back, even if you slip up, come back day after day because the support and knowledge you gain here is immeasurable. Honestly.
