What Alcoholism Looks Like

Sore toes and limited mobility due to gout
Puffy, broken out face
Aching throat due to vomiting
Dry skin and scalp
Messy house
Red, glassy eyes
Confused children
Loss of memory
Wearing the same clothes all weekend

This is me. Folks, be vigilant about maintaining sobriety when you achieve it. I fell down. Hard

Glad you posted.

Are you sober today? I don't know how long you were sober- what were you doing to support that?

You can do it.

I had a lot of those things. My house was a disaster. My yard was even worse. I was puffy from drinking. My memory was foggy. I had no ambition. I thought I was going to die in my house and I didn't know how to get out of the cycle, and I don't think I wanted to. Amazing how much change for the better can happen in a little over year.

I think the worst time for me was when I felt pretty much this same way, but didn't even realize that there *was* a cycle; it was just life.

My addiction had me thinking I was in party mode.....I partied every day or so.

I would quit...begin to detox/withdraw...then start up again.

Sometimes I would get drunk, passout, wake up, start drinking again. All in the same evening. So sad.

The cycle the was ruining my brain and body.

At a big party yest. Watched several drunks go from sober hung over to drunk over a 2 hour period.

It was sad. They were excited about drinking. They drank and in about 20 minutes were drunk.

They were happy and talking loud. Active and busy. Then the booze started to wear off. ....maybe an hour.

They slowed down. Looked sleepy. One fell sleep. They ate. Their night was over.

We went home,

I don't drink any more and don't miss it.

Happy to never drink again.

I'm back, but wanted to get some sobriety under my belt before posting again. Back to my program, plan, and on that proverbial wagon.

Good morning good people!
