16 Days and IOP
16 days into a totally new journey, and I feel great. IOP is very time consuming, but it pales in comparison to the amount of time totally wasted while endlessly drowning one's sorrows and slowing one's racing thoughts with a substance. It's early, but I feel healthy, happy, motivated, and optimistic about the future. There is hope, for everyone here. It can be done - is done - by many people every day. I've met some inspiring people and heard some remarkable turnaround stories in a few short weeks of IOP, and it has been a very helpful experience thus far. Best wishes to all of you, and thank you for all that you do.

Thank you all so much for the kind words. For those who asked, yes, IOP is Intensive Outpatient therapy, as opposed to inpatient. Basically, you attend 3-hour sessions in the early morning or at night, initially on a daily basis, and it tapers down gradually over a period of 8-12 weeks. In the meantime, one can still go to work, be a parent, etc. It's a lot to cram into a day, especially in the beginning, but it becomes part of a regular routine pretty quickly. It's been a good program, at least for me.
