There are a couple of simple truths in getting sober regardless of which path, plan or program one is lead towards, in my experience. Some basics most of us here likely would agree upon;
There is no problem, only resistance to the solution.
Many of us have heard this from time to time and recognize the statement's universal truth. Simply, there is a way out.
We read about friends stating they wish they could get sober. If only I could xyz....... it would be better and I wouldn't drink. It he, she or it hadn't pushed me to.........
When we stop resisting, embracing our chosen solution(s) and become
Willing to go to any lengths
we have opened the door to the opportunities life offers in sobriety.
Today, if you struggle ask yourself - are you willing to go to any lengths to get sober or are you resisting the solution still - again, staying stuck in the problem? It's really that simple.
I certainly resisted for a very long time. I wonder why? It was so painful to be That guy........
It doesn't get better, WE do.
Ready?

Excellent post, Fly N Buy.
I hope this is something our new friends will take to heart. FNB has really hit the nail on the head here.
Sobriety is within anyone's reach. And SR is here to support you.

yep. I agree wholeheartedly.
one thing I see in common with everyone who successfully embraced sobriety is this; they finally got to a point they were able to stop finding a thousand reasons not to.
whether AA, SMART, Counseling, inpatient, their own unique path.... no matter the method or the tools ultimately employed - the very FIRST thing that had to happen was a sincere, deep CHOICE.
And then the very NEXT thing that had to happen was a series of ACTIONS in support of that choice and in honor of sobriety at every step.
CHOICE.
ACTION.
Resistance has no place in these.
WISHING.
WANTING.
HOPING.
IF-ONLY-ING.
These are the language of resistance.
Choose---->>>>ACT----->>>> REPEAT!!!!!

"are you willing to go to any lengths to get sober or are you resisting the solution still - again, staying stuck in the problem?"
I wasted many years thinking I could get sober, but then drink now and again. I wasted many years thinking my sobriety was not necessarily priority #1. I did all I could at times, to sabotage my own efforts. With God's grace, no more. I will go to any length and will seek out and cooperate with any solution, to live a sober life.
Thanks for the great OP, Fly n Buy
