Here we go again.
You got that right Matt.
I quit smoking two packs of unfiltered cigarettes a day on Ash Wednesday at six months into my recovery from alcohol. I couldn't possibly have picked a worse time! Terrible decision. And nine months ain't no better!
But.....
But I did it. One thing I kept telling myself was, "If I stay quit now, I will never have to go through this living hell all over again. One time quitting smoking is enough for anyone to endure."
Also, I spent a lot of time reading the Surgeon General's report on smoking (this was over 25 years ago of course), so I had some heads-up on what to expect; it helped.
In my opinion it's better to skip the patches and all the other gimmicks....they only prolong the day of reckoning and agony. And, besides, they only work if you quit anyway, so what's the point?
Good luck. Keep us posted.
