Starting Day 6

It's amazing how resilient my body is, considering the pain I've put it through over the years and the fact that I'm not a kid anymore (39 years old). Starting Day 6, and I'm feeling rested, hopeful, excited, energetic.
But I need to remind myself my alcoholism is resilient, too. It can pop up at any time in many forms to convince me to drink again.
So I'm trying to be vigilant this time.
I stayed in, ate ice cream, read a book, and went to bed early last night. I'm up early now to take my dog for a hike. I have sober fun planned and errands laid out to be completed this weekend.
But most of all, I'm coming to this site to read every day. I'm posting every day. And I'm reaching out to a longtime sober friend regularly for support.
Hoping that one day, I'll reach a point where I'm that friend for someone. As for today, I'm grateful to be on Day 6. Thank you all.

Great post Tricia, you are doing all the right things and 39 is not old, I wish I would have quit at 39.

Congratulations on day 6!

Very good for you . Souchick is right. 39 years old is young and the perfect time to quit😀 You really are doing all the right things.

Great post Tricia! I get a lot out of SR as well. If anything, it helps keep complacency at bay 😀

Way to go on 6 days of sobriety! I'm hoping I can get there too. Just have to keep making then right choice and decide that alcohol is never an option for us! I don't have much advice because I'm starting over again myself, but I do understand the struggle and wish you the very best!

Thank you all so much for the words of encouragement!

The people on SR are a special lot and I'm grateful to have this place to come and share. I'm winding down a wonderful, busy, sober Day 6 with a cup of tea and a book, but just needed to drop in to say thank you so much. My hopes, thoughts, and support go out to each and every one of you, as well.

Kudos - I hit two weeks today (Saturday), and if it wasn't for this site, I'd have definitely drank by now.
