Day 6 and struggling a little

Hi everyone, I'm on day 6. Trying to keep myself from going to the store, I have almost left 3 times. Because I am starting a new diet but haven't received the weight loss shakes yet and my original plan was to stop drinking in April, I am rationalizing it would be ok to drink tonight and start again tomorrow. I know it's not what I want to do, but the urge is strong.

Thanks Mizzuno & Grymt. I fed my cats and dog and I'm reading here hoping it will pass. Your responses made me feel a little better so thanks again.

Hello emme
I am not pushing the avrt method onto you here, but this realization helped me. The urge to drink (the Beast) always lives in the now. When you have the urge to drink, it is always you want a drink now. So when you say, I will stop tomorrow and that urge comes back tomorrow IT will still want a drink now You won't feel any different about taking another drink tomorrow when you are in the grip of an urge than you feel about taking a drink now.
The Beast lives in perpetual now
But the AV will bargain with you and fool you into thinking that if you just drink nowyou will not drink tomorrow, because it knows, when you are in the grip of an urge it is always now
Good on you for not giving into it now

Thanks Gary, I have done that way too many times say I will just drink tonight and end up drinking again the next day or days. I don't know much about AVRT but will look into it, thank you.

Phoenix, I think that is what the problem was. I hadn't eaten dinner or drank anything for hours, and I was tired. After I ate something and drank some water I felt better. I will have to pay more attention to that going forward. Thanks for your response

As hard as it is to do....take the option of drinking off the table. Even if you are thinking about it all day, be stubborn and tell yourself you are NOT going to drink. Good job on 6 days.

Once we come to terms with the realization that, the one who has deceived us the most in our lives is the one who looks back at us in the mirror -- we are on our way to a new better sober life.

Don't be fooled.
A fool is one who fools themselves.
