Introduction/Hopefully Day 1

Hello,

I am new here and thought I'd introduce myself. I've been a very heavy drinker for the past decade-plus. I've also used drugs heavily, but remained somewhat high functioning. I'm a 30 year-old woman.

I recently had nearly 90 days of sobriety but fell off. I'm struggling to get back to a place where sobriety seems possible. I got drunk last night and am very sick today, shaking and beating myself up. Remaining sober just seems untenable. I am also contending with the ending of a very long relationship. I know that I can be okay just as long as I am sober. It's the only thing that matters, really, but the pain is overwhelming and I end up tricking myself into drinking. I know that alcohol will ruin my life if I don't stop.

Anyway, thank you for any help. I've tried various meetings in the past and although they did help I cannot seem to muster the energy to go to one now.

Hi Adrienne, glad you made the scene. SR can help you stop drinking, lots of great information and support here. If you made 90 before, you definitely can do this. When I first joined in May 2016 I'd had a 75 day streak before and lost it. SR is great for getting us back on the right track and then keeping us going.

Welcome Adrienne!

90 days is good so with a few ideas from SR you should be OK.

Hi Adrienne, Welcome!

I'm glad you are working on your recovery. It's too bad about your relationship ending, but you're so right. Stay sober and you will get through it. You had 90 days of sobriety, so is there anything you can add to your plan so you won't relapse again? You will always find lots of support here.

Welcome Adrienne

It happened me too at 120 days? I am back again at 90 days again tomorrow (it flew around)after my relapse at Christmas time. It is still very fresh in my head, I never want to feel like that again, terrible withdrawals and PAWS. I am stronger now and will never drink again. Good luck with your journey you will receive plenty of help here on SR as I know I have, bye for now and keep us posted.
