How many times?
trying to quit ain't the problem.
staying quit is where the rubber meets the road.
staying quit is the decision to not drink again EVER. no matter what. end of story. drop the mic. over and out.
it means you do not drink for any reason, under any circumstance. that drinking is no longer an option. it is no longer something you choose.
it also means you go to whatever measures to assure it never happens. that you throw yourself at the mercy of a recovery program, without reservation. that you COMMIT.

I "tried" to not drink for a month, resulting in drinking every 4th or 5th day. Or moderation if you want to call it that. Been a daily drinker before, too. Then I decided to end this nightmare and get sober. That was 5 months ago and I didn't have a drink since then.
I think for me "trying" wasn't good enough, I had to make a decision. When I was still trying, drinking kind of remained an option for me. Now it's not and that's why I'm still sober. Cause drinking is no longer an option. No matter what.

I've tried so many times not to drink and it just wasn't working. I would drink less but still get trashed every time I would decide to drink.
Drinking is just not an option for me anymore and I actually feel great about making this decision 🙂
Good job on 5 months sober!
