New here!

Hello everybody! I'm new to posting on the forum but not new to recovery. This must be like the 10th time I've "quit", only to return to drinking with yet another set of drinking rules that would inevitably wind up broken.

This current go-round I just decided to go completely sober the first three months of 2017 and then decide April 1 what I'd do beyond that. I feel like I want to stay sober indefinitely, so I'm taking an additional step in joining up here instead of being a casual lurker, in hopes of getting a bit deeper into sobriety as a lifestyle and hopefully making some sober friends along the way.

I'm very excited to be here and hope to meet some of you!

Welcome, DancingAngel. This is a very supportive place. Have you thpught about joining his site's March class, specifically for people in your situation? Could be an additional pillar of support.

Welcome and congrats on over 2 months sober. I have tried to quit at least as many times as you. This site is helping me to be successful this time. I hope you will find the same!

welcome angel

I hope you stick with it...it's tempting to think a few months might reset us in some way...but that was not my experience.

My relationship with alcohol was always the same...the only change was it got worse.

Welcome!

"Drinking rules." Been there, didn't work for me - but I tried, truly.

Great to meet you, DancingAngel. I had my rules too. I don't think they ever worked once. It was so hard to admit I could never trust myself once it was in my system. Stopping all together was the only way to avoid disaster. Wish it hadn't taken me so long to get it. Welcome.

Welcome DancingAngel! A lot of us find it easier to stay sober. Controlled drinking never works ...all or nothing. For once.....Nothing sounds really good!!! Hope to hear from you more.

Welcome DancingAngel,

Glad you found this forum. You will find kindness and support here

Well done on over two months sober, that's great. April could be your 4th mth?

I have only one rule and that is, no matter what, I will not drink today. It works for me but we all have different methods and plans.

I hope you'll stick around, post whenever you want/need to
