Newbie to sober recovery
Hello All, this my first post here.
I'm 24 hours into "recovery" after many years of alcohol abuse, I guess my peak was about 18 beers per day but have dropped to 7 to 8 per day, I'm going through the moderate stages of withdrawal right now but definitely worth it, I quit 4 years ago for 2 years and it was the best feeling there was, I'm planning this time to do it again but for good this time...any support would be greatly appreciated.
Jacko.

A Brief History In Time
Hello,
since I'm getting a little more comfortable with the forum and posting I'll give a brief history of myself.
I'm 54 years old and grew up in an alcohol culture, started drinking with my friends at 15 but not seriously untill my early 20's. Story goes as follows; moved to California from Chi-Town in 94 to purchase a manufacturing business which was successful, 1 mill+ in revenue and 10 employees I ran it for 20 years but overseas manufacturing competition finally finally ended it that's when the drinking got bad, lost my house, my industrial property, my wife ect...now I live with my elderly parents in a spare bedroom, broke and washed up, starting life over in mid 50's sucks but there's nothing I can do about the past, I have to Sober up and start over (one of the reasons I'm on this forum) so far the encouragement has been great and look forward to more communication, my thanks to everyone here it's greatly appreciated!!!

Jacko I'm about the same age as you. I've been sober for just over 8 months. I cannot tell you how diffrent your prospective is once you have some sober time. The addiction makes the future look so miserable. Once you have a few months sober things began to look brighter all the time.
Also things that you thought that were important really are not once your sober.
I guess what I'm trying to say is given somesober time life really can be awesome again. It's also odd that eight months ago I felt so old, tired, and near the end of my life.
Now I feel like I have more energy and have more motivation than I did when I was twenty.
Starting over for you will be a peice for of cake sober. You will see. The sober you is going to be awesome.

Welcome, Jacko!
I'm new here too, and haven't fully began sobriety yet, but just like you- I cut back A LOT.
I actually used to work with someone named Jacko, so you're the second Jacko I have met! Awesome name.
