Baclofen - finally free?

Hi, I've just joined. I've been dependent on alcohol and other things for 24 years. Last year my body gave up and I suffered multi organ failure but I'm still here somehow.
I've tried many different medications, therapy, detoxes to no avail until my dr suggested Baclofen and as dramatic as it sounds, I've stopped drinking completely. I'm 32 days sober which is the longest time for me. My anxiety has gone, my mood is light and my sleep is way better.
It all sounds too good to be true but for me, it's working.
Has anyone else tried Baclofen and what are your thoughts?

Hi and welcome Groundhog

I've been on it - but many years ago as a kid and so not for alcohol related reasons

I know there's some members who have tho and hopefully you'll hear from them.

Never tried it before but I'm glad to hear you got 32 days!

There's a no doctor advice rule about this forum... I'm really trying to be good... so here I go.

Withdrawal symptoms. Be careful!

Welcome to SR Groundhog101.

I have never heard of Baclofen but I am glad it seems to be such a great help to you.

Congratulations on 32 days!

Hi Groudhog101,

I took Baclofen years ago. After going through some difficult back problems and being on some strong pain medications for an extended time, my doctor prescribed Baclofen. It really helped me in getting off the pain meds. Glad to hear you feeling great!

Glad to have you with us, Groundhog. I don't know of Baclofen either - but we're very happy you found SR - hope you continue posting.

welcome, Groundhog,
gladto hear what you're taking is working for you. my caution would be, though, to start doing more than taking a pill - what if your mood stops being light, or you suddenly don't sleep well, or you find yourself wanting to drink?
if you rely on the pill andit proves unreliable, what then?
so i encourage you to look around and see what others are doing, see what makes sense to you and implement that.
