5 weeks

My initial goal was a month. I was also questioning whether I would have enough will power to last that long. When a month was completed, I looked back and decided that I would not drink just for another day. Tomorrow will be 5 weeks. It has got much easier I must say. Being active in my recovery has also helped tremendously.
Overall, sobriety has brought many positives and made me realise that my previous attempts to control my drinking were just making my life much more difficult. It's easier not to drink at all! I would never have believed this before.
Each day there is a new door which opens. I've been waking up just before dawn, it's my favourite time of the day.
I'm intending to continue to sail this ship!

Well done Quietwaters on 5 weeks! Your post made me smile right from my heart because I can relate to all you have said. Just keep going one day at a time...I will too

It occurred to me that what you're describing is simply: freedom. Freedom from the grip of alcohol. Freedom from the mind games of moderation. Freedom to turn your mind and heart and all your energy to things that really matter.

That is great, quietwaters. Keep on going.
I agree, it's simpler to not drink at all. Took me a while to learn that, though.
