6 Days Sober

Waking up not reaching for the bottle to feel normal anymore feels great. Still lots of anxiety, have a big day ahead of me with returning to work and explain my long absence, and seeing if I can get some days to work a little earlier so I can attend meetings, I work night hours. I have been to 2 meetings already and want to attend as many as I can.

But no matter what happens today, I WILL NOT DRINK.

Welcome! Glad to hear about the meetings and working out a new schedule.

Have you looked at the Class of Feb 2017 under Newcomers Daily Support? Good place to get to know people who also quit this month.

Hope to see you around here!

Six days is a great start and settling back into a work routine can be used to your advantage. Keep it going.

The anxiety starts to lessen as you build up more time. I am glad you have found SR. The February 2017 link is a good one, and the 24 hour thread as well.

AA hasn't been part of my recovery, but I know many have found success with AA, I also know that they have meetings around the clock by me, not sure about where you live.

Good luck going back to work, you may find it helpful to get back into your routine.

Looking forward to seeing you on SR!

Six days is a good start! The anxiety should get better with time.

Congrats! like the others said the anxiety lessons. In the meantime, enjoy the world opening up around you without fogginess of alcohol!

That's absolutely wonderful. I know it's not easy, but your resolve is inspiring. Also, I love the all caps at the end. I'm pulling for you.
