Hopefully catching this in time. Here's my story.
Hi Asa, welcome!
I had anxiety about travel and airplanes too; for me it was apparently alcohol related. After a few months sober, I no longer had issues with bridges and air travel. The other thing that changed was depression - this was the real surprise for me, I didn't even recognize how depressed drinking made me.
Keep posting, and stay honest open and willing to do whatever is necessary to stay away from the first drink. You can do this, but initially it will have to be your first priority, and some days your only priority.
I was 43 when I quit drinking, the changes in my life since then have been incredible. Good luck, and keep posting!
