You start to feel better, it's been a few weeks, it wasn't that bad, maybe this time you can limit it....

What do you do to keep yourself aware and alert to never drinking again?

Thanks
I log in here every single day and read. Almost daily someone posts they are going through hell. It keeps it fresh in my mind. And sober.

I'm hoping my recent emergence from DENIAL will help keep me on the sober path.

I honestly did not recognize the periods of withdrawal I was experiencing between binges. I thought I had the flu, or was dealing with thyroid issues, or a million other excuses, etc . . .

I knew I drank too much (way too much) but I honestly didn't think I suffered any physical consequences.

I can no longer pretend I don't have a serious addiction to alcohol along with the grave physical consequences of the years and years of abuse. I figure I'm at least a year from the hope of physical recovery (or what is able to be fully recovered).

I'm hoping this new awareness will work in my sober favor.

It's a powerful incentive, isn't it? That is exactly how I feel.
