Glad to meet you, Kieran! When I found SR I was drinking all day. The encouragement I found here helped me turn it around. We know you can get free of it & say goodbye to the misery. Welcome!
G'day mate fellow brisbanite here.
Late last year I couldn't string 2 days sober together so I understand where you are at.
It's a tough road in the beginning, but if you can put some distance between drinking and not drinking it defs gets easier.
Early on I used distraction techniques A LOT! Eat something, a full belly often decreases the desire to drink.
Maybe see your doc and find out whether meds might help. Valium was great for me in the beginning. And Antabuse.
Anyhoo welcome to SR and keep posting

Welcome Ichoosesobriety,
A lot of good advice here from people that have been where you are now. As Poppy said, it's not easy at the beginning but it's well worth it. Just focus on now and taking care of you, drink water, eat when possible and don't drink alcohol. It is that simple. Fight the urges and cravings you'll never have to go through this again.
