Three Day Weekends
 

Long weekends used to be bad for my health. Having extra days off was the perfect excuse to tuck into a giant bottle of vodka. I can’t tell you how many times I would have to drag myself to work after a long weekend, sick as a dog and withdrawing.

I’m just shy of two months sober. This morning I got up and started getting ready for work, only to be reminded by the news that it is President’s Day. I have the day off! I can’t believe I forgot, NEVER would have happened during my drinking days. I would either be trying desperately to dry out today or saying “Hell with it!” and drinking till I passed out tonight.

Today is a happy day in my journey. I want nothing but the same for all of you. Thank you SR!
