It's not a big deal...
It's not a big deal...
There's so much we make into such a big deal.
One thing I've learned in sobriety is; it's not. None of it.
In a flash of light, we are here and we are gone again.
In the scale of time - the things we fret and bother over are utterly meaningless.
What matters is that we simply live well and love.
What matters is gratitude and touching one another's hearts.
What matters is that during that flash of light - we give of ourselves and we simply experience the beauty of that flash for what it is, while it lasts.
All the other stuff is an illusion.
Alcohol and drugs are giant illusion that magnifies the noise and distracts us from the simplicity of the only truly big deal.
So today, when you find yourself fretting, bothering, all worked up, despairing, anxious, worried, angry..... remind yourself how little all of that means and instead;
Just look to the beauty.
Give the Love.
Be.

For sure FO. And I hope you're feeling better than you were in your last thread.
Perspective is very important. I watched my late hub die, a man who worried about everyone and everything. Who took on the guilt and shame of the world. Who so badly 'needed' something and didn't know what it was. He was a great guy but he died sad. And lets face it, death, early death IS sad.
The most important thing in life is to try to be happy....and yes its accomplished by learning perspective. I tell my daughter, who is innately driven and competitive, to never forget that the objective is to have fun.

Like a vapor -- puff of smoke -- as the flowers wilter.

Free Owl. Thank you. You have said it all. Simple, eloquent, wise. Truth. As Keats said, "Beauty is Truth, Truth Beauty. That is all ye know and all ye need to know." I would add Love, Compassion, Forgiveness, Knowing Oneself, One's True Self. All else is illusion, "sound and fury, signifying nothing."
