I am excited to be here! sort of!

Hi, I used to belong to sober recovery 9 years ago as I drank alcohol way too much and hated it! This place really helped. What got me to quit is having triplets that are now 6, 2 of which are on the autism spectrum. I know so many moms drink wine but I honestly cannot afford to feel hungover with three kids counting on me. I'm so tired anyway that alcohol is honestly the last thing I want at this point. I will occasionally drink 1-2 drinks maybe once or twice a year but even that makes me tired so I avoid it pretty much. Another reason I don't drink is I found out I have major anxiety which was why I drank before kids. Now that I know that's the issue its easier to calm myself down with things I've read, CBT, meditation.

I'm here now because of my husband who is an alcoholic. I'm at my wits end with him and hopefully can get some guidance as to how to handle him while his drunk or just how to deal.

I didn't realize this wasn't for family and friends. I tried to edit my post (but it was too late)to say I had major cravings while pregnant but knew I couldn't so I didn't and by the time I gave birth the cravings were gone. I do not wish to trigger anyone or give the impression that it is super easy to quit and only have a couple cocktails once a year! I think that having kids with special needs really was the reason.

Everyone is welcome in Newcomers forum mamapajama

I'm really glad to hear you're in recovery, although I'm sorry for what brings you back here - you'll find a ton of support tho

Do you think your husband has any desire to quit drinking?

D

Does not matter where you post. You are wanting support. Well you got it. There is so much excellent info at SR- narratives, threads etc. I am not going to reinvent the wheel. Stay safe and take care- of you and your children above all else.

I am glad you are doing well mamapajama.

Like Dee said I guess it depends on what your husband's attitude is to drinking vs not drinking
