coming up on 60 days (!)

Next week its 60 days sober for me. My old record was 82 days.
Im having a real easy time this time around (this is like the 10th time so Im not being cocky saying ITS EASY) because Quitting Alcohol is simply a - part, an ingredient -one piece of my awakening. NOT the WHOLE FOCUS!
I decided to make this easy on myself with 1 fact& 3 decisions:

Fact -Im DONE feeling like this (hungover, fat , weak etc).

Decisions:

1-I simply, literally will never will drink alcohol again Im an ex drinker.
2-Im NOT in recovery- Im just going to improve my health over time (Recovery as we are taught is LIFE LONG- its not DONT believe that!!!- its a season- it may be a long season - yes but its a season. thats it it PASSES !
3- No groups- (ok occasional posts here) - I can do this. (I have previously gained serious quit momentum from knowledge hwe and past quits.) I want to walk from drink- not hang out and mourn it for the rest of my life. What you do not feed dies.
RESPECT for those who are benefiting from all the support out there-

Peace

Way to go on 60 days!
Not sure about #2. I think it is a life long commitment. I know this because my last go around after some time I WAS CURED! Not...

Congrats on 60 days livingnow

Truth be told, I couldn't have done this without accepting recovery was a permanent life change...and I couldn't have done it without a good support network I used regularly and every time I was in trouble.....

but I understand we all have different approaches to this thing..

Genuinely interested....What comes after recovery for you if it's a 'season'?

Congrats on almost 60 days !

My longest sober stretch is only 2 years, and I only have just under 6 months now. So I'm a work in progress. I learn constantly and adjust my sails where I need to, hopefully. But for me, I believe living in recovery is for life. I don't see that as a negative. Today is all I have, today is an equalizer...it's all we all have really. I won't be quitting drinking everyday, that's for sure. But I will be recovering.

Hey Dee.
I look at recovery like this.
Recovery - Ongoing - without an end- no freedom! its a perpetual "label" I do not wish to affix to myself.

Recovered- Been through tough stuff- eventually healed!
I was in a car accident - I recovered.
I used to smoke- I recovered (just dont do it anymore- been 12 yrs)
I had the flu - recovered.
I caught colds. recovered.
Heres the websters definition of recovery ( no definition speaks of a perpetual state of recovery)
recovery:
1.
to get back or regain (something lost or taken away):
to recover a stolen watch.
2.
to make up for or make good (loss, damage, etc., to oneself).
3.
to regain the strength, composure, balance, or the like, of (oneself).
4.
Law.

to obtain by judgment in a court of law, or by legal proceedings:
to recover damages for a wrong.
to acquire title to through judicial process:
to recover land.

5.
to reclaim from a bad state, practice, etc.
6.
to regain (a substance) in usable form, as from refuse material or from a waste product or by-product of manufacture; reclaim.

Thats why I refuse the life sentence of "recovery" How one think is how one IS
