Sorry that the delayed weight loss seems to threaten your sobriety.

As the replies indicate, weight loss followed sobriety for some. Others didn't find losing weight a by-product of quitting. But it doesn't mean you can't.

For most of us, recovery meant more than just quitting. It took a plan. Weight loss can be done the same way, with a goal, clear objectives, and a plan to get there. If you put in the effort, you will reap the rewards. If you are just waiting for the weight to drop, with the self imposed pressure of relapse should that drop not happen fast enough...I wonder if the self-sabotage isn't your addiction hoping you don't lose weight.

I lost 40 lbs my first year. Replaced drinking with going to the gym though.

I've been sober for about 7 years. Still waiting for the weight loss!

When I stopped drinking six weeks ago I also made the conscious choice to eat well and exercise (for me it all goes hand in hand) and so far I have lost 15 pounds.

Sobriety by itself doesn't automatically equal weight loss. I drank wine, so when I first got sober I craved sugar like crazy.

March 15 I will have been sober for one year, and the sugar cravings have settled down. Now I need to make some changes to incorporate more exercise into my life

While I am a little bit heavier, my life has completely changed from the inside out and I wouldn't go back to that horror show which was active alcoholism for anything.
