Slipped up 5 days ago

5 days ago (last Wednesday) I had 2 cans of beer, because I wasn't getting any better (or wasn't getting better fast enough). The stomach pains, IBS, insomnia, panic attacks and depression weren't getting any better; the alcohol didn't help, but it sedated me for a lonely hour and added a few hours onto my then-usual 3 hour 'naps' that I mistook for sleep.

I turned that dip into something pretty positive, weirdly. I did a humongous diet overhaul and I've been feeling wonderful ever since. The stomach problems I've been having for years went away in about 3 days, as did the insomnia, panic attacks and depression. Every day seems to be better than the last, now.

I've always believed that alcoholism / relapse and diet went hand in hand, but now I'm entirely convinced. The same goes for panic attacks / severe depression and diet problems, at least in my experience. I'm not glad I slipped up, but I'm glad rock bottom led me to this.

Glad to hear you learned something Death Box....now you can concentrate on making sure it doesn't ever happen again, right? Glad that the stomach problems cleared up too, I had a lot of GI issues from my drinking and they are not fun.

I am a FIRM believer that diet, nutrition and supplements ALL play a HUGE role! What did you change around in your diet out of curiosity?

A healthy diet is essential to our well being. I know I feel better when I eat right.
