Tomorrow's day 1....
Tomorrow is going to be my second attempt at giving up alcohol. First attempt lasted 6 weeks.
I'm not giving up alcohol to live longer. I'm giving up alcohol to have a better quality of life now, more energy, more happiness, better health etc.
Has anyone got any examples about how much more energy they've got etc from being sober?
Btw I'm only 31 so daunted by the phrase never ever lol

Welcome to SR, Al31.
You are doing a truly wonderful and amazing thing for yourself and your loved ones by choosing sobriety.
There's a really great thread on how much better life can become; I'll post the link in a minute!!!!

I pissed away my 30s drinking. I won't do the same for my 40s. You have an opportunity to do this at a relatively early age. So do it! Good luck.
welcome to SR!
I am 35 and I gave up alcohol almost 8 months ago. I am really glad I did. I feel amazing.
It gets easier to accept never having a drink again. It is hard at first to accept that but the longer you go without it the more you realize you don't want it and you don't miss it.

Since I quit drinkng I am faster than a speeding bullet. More powerful than a locomotive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. I have powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men, can change the course of mighty rivers, bend steel in my bare hands!
(and so will you!)

I have more energy than when I was drinking. I feel a whole lot better. I had a lot of problems thinking about "never". It helped me to think about it as "just for today, I'm not drinking." And then those single consecutive days added up and I really don't want to drink.
Anyone can do one day.
