Music as therapy
Music as therapy
I've always been very interested in music although not a musician myself. I'm finding that a lot of what I've listed to over the years deliver messages of overcoming adversity and often addiction. I'm now working at coming up with a playlist of songs that inspire me to keep the ball rolling
I love music and love to sing (in my car, around the house, etc).
In my short time of sobriety, I noticed the music I was repeatedly attracted to was about loss, sadness, loneliness, etc.
I am trying to change the script--I've started downloading and listening to more inspirational/motivational music. I really feel like this is a HUGE success for me and definitely helps my overall attitude.
Thanks for the post!!!

I do think there is such a thing as healthy music.
And unhealthy music makes me nervous.

I'd suggest the band Blue October...Read up on the lead singers background and watch some of their videos on youtube.. This is one of the later songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3b0-i1T8Hk Some of the earlier ones are about his struggle with addiction and mental illness.

Music has always been an important part of my life, too, although I'm not a musician. I hear songs differently now in sobriety, and they help me a lot.
I hope you will share your list. I love the idea of having a sobriety mix!
