2 weeks sober today
2 weeks sober today
Just checking in.
Still very tired, taking naps each day, craving LOTS of sweets and generally motivated every other day.
Signed up at gym and plan on starting a routine next week to go and walk 3 miles a day, Mom-Fri.
Trying to incorporate doing 1 thing nice/kind thing for someone else each day. Not consistent yet, but trying to be. I think this is MUCH needed in my life.
Finding things less stressful, anxiety is much less, I'm getting more accomplished around the house, etc. Feel more connected with my kids, hubby. I also feel more confident in me, my decisions, who I am. Feels good.
Still getting cravings, still fighting them off.
Thanks for letting me share.

Congratulations on two weeks.
Sounds like you've got a great plan in place. Isn't great to have the anxiety and stress improving?
I started a work out routine, too. It helps a lot.
It's also great to feel comfortable in your own skin and reconnect with the family and work life.
Best to you, and remember, you never have to drink again.

Thanks for all the support!!
Totally forgot something---as I am waking up this morning I was made so aware of how THANKFUL I am for sleep. Totally forgot what a good nights sleep felt like--it's AWESOME!!! So thankful.

Great job Suzie! And, well done on the fitness goals too. Need to get more regular with that myself because it definitely helps to stay focused and boost your mood. I've been taking some Vit B complex and an extra dose of Niacin (Vit B 3) to help regulate blood sugar (read it a long time ago I think on the doctoryourself website) and it seems to be working. I do have maybe one sweet thing a day usually after dinner but certainly don't go through a whole pack of oreos in one sitting like I did on my first rodeo.
"craving LOTS of sweets"
NOW is the time to do a thorough investigation of alcoholism and hypoglycemia, take what you learn and (if you aren't already) do a radical improvement of your diet addressing this matter.
Because of how alcohol is metabolized, undiagnosed hypoglycemia is very common among active drinkers. A large part of cravings is the body crying out for that immediate sugar rush that alcohol provides.
So, changing one's diet (no sugar, no simple carbs, etc.) is a powerful tool for decreasing cravings when one no longer drinks.
