Just getting started
 

Hello all,

I'm just getting started on this journey. I finally got fed up with feeling tired, being ashamed, missing out on things with family. Tired of hiding and lying. Also very tired of having a drink on a day when I didn't want to drink...simply to stop my hands from shaking. I also don't want to cause permanent health issues.

I have decided to stop before I really do lose all the good things in life. I'm blessed to have a great family, a great job, and so many other things. Nothing is worse losing all of that.

Given my circumstances I don't have a lot of support options, other than just my husband but he doesn't really know how to help me. When I found this site and was reading some of the posts I thought this will be a good place to come for support.

Hi! I am very early in my recovery (2 weeks) but have found this site and these people to be a blessing! I am thrilled to have found them and I'm sure you will be too!

Welcome lost. Well you have gratitude for what you do have, that is a big part of the equation, IMO. You are making a very good to decision to quit while you're ahead.

i go to aa meetings to stay sober today

its like a big fun social club

Welcome to SR. Get involved, read hundreds of posts here, and maybe try to implement some of the advice that will be offered. This forum has helped many people get and stay sober.

Lots of cool people here who have great insight into how to stop drinking for good and who can provide guidance during the rough times.

Glad to meet you lost. SR has given me the support and education to finally gain sobriety. I hope this great community helps you as much as it has helped me.
