Little Victories
Last night, around dinner time, we had a plumbing emergency. I had to tear out a wall, and make a run to the hardware store for parts during a snowstorm right as they were closing. My stress level was ramping up, and the "you deserve a drink" voice was piping up. But, I maintained my focus. And the feeling of relief and accomplishment when I completed the job and took a hot shower felt better than a drink ever would have made me feel.
Giving up is NOT an option.

Yeah! That's what it's all about! Being able to do things with a clear head, and feeling good about accomplishments and handling things without turning to drinking as a reward or celebration!
