Friday tomorrow .
That friday feeling will happen , in early sobriety for the first few months i stopped going to the supermarket on a friday .
I went shopping on a thursday , friday morning before work or saturday .

I made sure the freezer had ice cream hidden in it so i didnt feel deprived of a treat when i got home , especially if the london traffic had been bad and it had taken 3 hrs to go the 12 miles home.

So prep yourself , it might not be fun , you may have to fake it till you make it by watching a film with a craving going on , ignoring it , training your brain not to dwell in those thoughs and to get out of them as swiftly as possible.

You can change your mind , you can think about something different , it's not impossible and i got better practaiced with time .

I heard once someone say focus and dwell on the bad things drinking gives , i always used to dwell in those thoughs of the negative consequences anytime i was craving and i also remind myself and dwell on the negatives of alcohol when i brush my teeth in the morning for about 3 mins .

I now habbitually think of alcohol as something bad and cant remember anything good coming from it now ..

Bestwishes , m

Hi Mex!

Staying sober is all about having a plan.

Here's what I've got for my three-week trip alone (without my Guardian Angel Wife):
  • I've been going to AA meetings every day instead of just twice a week.
  • I have a schedule of meetings for while I am in Florida
  • I have a recovery book with me
  • I have SR for parts of the trip where there is WiFi
  • I have an AA phone list
  • I even made a sign, "Looking for Friend of Bill W.", in case I need an impromptu meeting on the train--parts of the trip are not even in cell-phone range

Oh, yes, I am also going to be sure to stay nourished, hydrated, and rested.

Happy Birthday, Trees!

And thank you, Sao, for the terrific opening to this weekend's thread.

Weekends became practically a revelation to me. I learned that one needn't awaken with a crushing headache, get nothing done, wonder how life could be better and then repeat the entire cycle.

Life's better sober. Glad to be here and glad to be in everyone's company.

Oh my, how brave you are, Ruby. Unlike MLD, I am no fan of assembling IKEA items.

I spent hours grumbling and groaning over a "simple" lamp once. Of course, that was in the bad old days. Perhaps I'd be better at assembly now. On the other hand ...

Hope it goes well for you and the Rubester II.

I'm in for another sober weekend -
I've been home with a bad cold watching The Wire...I must admit that all the drinking that goes on in that show makes me a little sick. That's a good thing for me!!
Ruby...I've assembled many things in my day....bunkbeds, desks, bookcases. I've decided that I don't like to assemble things anymore and will avoid it whenever possible. Good luck! At least it's too cold to do anything outside anyway.
Ok...good night.
happy birthday Trees!

Hi, Venecia and Happyandfree!

I hope everyone else is having a good sober time!

I got my luggage down to 48.5 pounds; the limit is 50 on the flight. Even though the agent told me they wouldn't enforce the limit, I am glad to be carrying less weight. I am going to wear my heavy jacket instead of mailing it, since my wife suggested I might want to wear it if I step off the train in North Dakota. I can then stuff it in my backpack after the flight if it is not too cold in Seattle. That's the solution--if you can't pack the clothes, then just wear them! Or mail them--I'm going to send one box to Minnesota, and one box to Florida.

The current weather where my brother lives is "Fair, -13°F (-25°C)," in Florida, "Fair, 59°F (15°C)," and where I live, " A Few Clouds, 32°F (0°C)."

Welcome to Weekenders doggoluvr and badgerden, post if you are struggling and post if you are doing well, it helps

Happy Birthday Trees! I am not sure if today is the actual day or it is soon but It is great to have you on the thread

Hi STDragon

The Christmas decorations come down at Saoutchik Towers today. It is only a small flat so it doesn't take long

It is not -13C in London but it is freezing, too slippery to run anywhere

Happy birthday Trees My decos are reluctantly coming down today as well saoutchik. I don't wanna take them downnnnnnnnn. Especially the window lights (the house is lit up like blackpool illuminations ) It's gonna be so dark and gloomy whilst I'm getting used to it. Every year I say, ooo I'm going to look into lights or decor that I can keep up all year round to brighten the place up. Then promptly forget. Maybe this year is the one I actually do it.

Thanks for well wishes everyone. I appreciate it!

I took down my decorations too today. I love Christmas in the sun. It's summer holidays here now so we never get that depressed January feeling.

I noticed today that I have a very sandy car as we spend a lot of time at the beach. Definitely clean it tomorrow. Definitely.
Absolutely definitely.
