End of day 4 - sober but it's been tough

Hi all. Just checking in tonight. This is my 4th night being sober. It has been a tough evening. I wanted to stop for vodka on the way home from work but didn't. Got home and settled in but still the cravings persisted. I ate supper and watched some TV to distract me. I surfed SR to read posts and such. I'm finally at 10pm and am ready to hit the sack and close the book on this day - SOBER. No hang over for me tomorrow morning thank God!

I'm working on my wellness plan for these days. Thanks to many of you I have many great ideas that I've added to my list. Appreciate them all!

Tomorrow's another day and I will continue to fight the urge to drink. I'd appreciate prayers for the strength I'll need for this fight.

Thanks to all and my prayers are with each of you.

Great going on four days. That was always the tough one for me. Felt better, no hangover and, Hey! I can drink again.
Glad you resisted the temptation. Keep it up one day at a time. It only gets better.
You'll be in my prayers.

You can do it labgirl. I spent every evening here reading and posting. Just one day at a time my friend.

4th day victory!

The 4th day can indeed be tough! (The third day is my challenge but I have heard people talk about the fourth too). I am inspired at how you took yourself through it. Great job. And, if it's tough tomorrow, we'll all be here. You can do this. I myself have found the end of week two much less tough, and look forward to the days when it gets less and less so (although I know that doesn't mean I can drink again). When you wake up tomorrow you'll be thanking yourself!

Great job today labgirl in resisting the temptation to drink and distracting yourself. I felt the same after work but also hurried home and started watching some tv and ate dinner.

Glad you won't be waking up tomorrow with a hangover

Labgirl 4 days is awesome! Congrats.

One thing I found helpful to combat the early cravings was the online solitaire games with a time limit. My early concentration was not good but I could concentrate for the three minutes I had to finish the game. Focusing on beating the clock took my mind off drinking. Playing a bunch of three minute games can help you get you through some cravings.

Hang in there. You are making 2017 your year!!

Today is day 6 for me and I too thought about a bottle of vodka as I left work yesterday. I took a different route home to avoid passing my old liquor store. I binge watched Netflix until I fell asleep. I'm thinking maybe a hobby would help? Something to occupy those hours after work that used to be filled with drinking? Just a thought since I'm still trying to figure this out too. :-)

Good for you!!!

Day 4 was Armageddon for me. I only made it to the bathroom and back the entite day...the rest I spent curled up on the sofa in misery. I even have "day 4" written in my list of reasons not to drink.

It got better from there...plenty of ups and downs, but better.

You got this.

Good job on not going to get that bottle - it really will get easier, day by day.
