Relapse
Hi,
I have just relapsed and realised that I m an alcoholic. I need help and support. I used to go to AA but I thought I can do it myself. Now I am embarrassed to go to the rooms again. I thought that on-line support can help.

Thanks. Yes, relapsing is awful. Particularly the mental state of mind. I went home for Christmas promising myself not to drink....it did not work. It is a serious addiction. I do not drink every day but drink a lot when I start drinking - I drink everything!
Did you have the same?

Welcome to SR, paulski; very glad that you found this wonderfully supportive, understanding and encouraging forum.
Look around the site, giving special attention to the "Stickies" at the top of each form (especially the Newcomers and Newcomer Daily support forum); there is a wealth of information and wisdom in those threads.
So glad that you are here.

Glad you're back to trying to get sober.
Please don't feel embarrassed about heading back to the rooms. Honestly, not everyone is ready the first time. Not ready to embrace the whole recovery idea as one that is necessary, or find the willingness to do the work. It took me while to get to that stage myself, although I was lucky in that I stayed sober (just had lots of depression and a but of a breakdown.) It's a long learning journey, and we can all get there. It just takes longer for some of us to 'get it'. I bet they'd be very pleased that you made it back. You probably have some very important lessons to share with other newcomers as well.
Wishing you all the best for your recovery. BB

Take it one day at a time, paulski.
Your body is healing; your body expends quite a bit of energy when in 'healing mode' - listen to it; get plenty of rest; eat healthful meals; get fresh air; do some very light exercise.
Your mind/brain is healing, too; practice some deep breathing; take soothing baths; be patient with yourself; forgive yourself.
Your body and mind are incredibly resilient; give them time to heal and let the magic of sobriety begin.

In the meantime, you could always use some of the experience strength and hope shared by the AA Speakers. The recordings are free, and easy to download or listen to, on this site.... http://www.recoveryaudio.org/ (My faves are Earl Hightower and Sandy Beach. )
Go for it.
Go for it.

Hi guys,
Thank you for your support.
Almost 2 days clean! Managed to get to the gym and for a walk, had plenty of water and vitamins and healthy food. Feeling much better! Thank be for today!
Nothing is better than a sober mind.
Bless you all

Hi paulski, welcome! This board is monumental in support, here 24/7.
Please don't feel bad about going back to AA. No one will feel anything but relief at seeing you. If they feel anything different, that's on them.
So glad you made it back!
