Has this happened to you?

What I never really noticed was the incessant comments people make about alcohol and the abuse thereof1
Tonight, Im at the checkout lane. Got 4 2 liters of Diet coke to be rung up . The man behind me comments "Coke and....?" TWICE...At first I didn't catch on, then when I did I knee jerked....ICE! This stuff is warm!
Two things:
1- He will have a "great time" tonight (sarcasm) THEN wake up ruined.
2- I realized how much Im enjoying this FREEDOM

On the way walk from the store I passed a bar (street level).
Dont miss it. seriously THIS is a HAPPY NEW YEAR

I still get the odd comment if I have a diet coke in my hand at a get together, either with family or friends, things like "you're on the hard stuff early" or "I love JD and coke, good choice" . . . oblivious to some it's only a diet coke and those that know me also know that, but I don't pass any remarks and let people believe what they want to believe.

Hang over free mornings, now that's the new rock 'n roll . . . Happy New Year Livingnow!!

HNY, I don't think the comments ever stop, it is the standard light conversation here in Oz.
I made a passing comment to a neighbour that it was good to pack up my 14 YO GD to friends for the night and they quickly respond with go in and pour yourself a nice tall glass of wine....nodding and smiling back I went in and made a cuppa.

I used to be the one buying 6 bottles of wine at a time, and I always had to make a comment to the cashier or the person behind me that it is worth it to us 6 to get the 30% off. Sadly, that would t even last me a week.

I am much happier buying large quantities of Arizona Zero Green Tea on sale.

I have got comments like that too. One time I was grocery shopping and bought a bag of lemons and a guy was asking me if I was going to make martini's etc.

Alcohol is the normal now. We don't hear someone ask reasons why they drink alcohol instead of a nice cold soda. You ruined that perfectly great soda!

I've noticed it. The popular culture is completely booze crazy. I'm glad I'm out of that nightmare.

On Christmas day I went to my local service station to get ice but they were out. A guy asked 'Does that mean no drinks' referring to alcohol. I just said 'Not at all!'.....I was still going to have my soda and lime

You are early on in your journey, but I agree about the freedom aspect. Living in alcohol jail is no way to live life. I liken being an alcoholic like being in jail without the bars on the door.
