Day 5 - absolutely exhausted ..what's going on ?

So I have woken up on Day 5 after a weird dream about two ladies stopping me on a bus as they were so concerned about my blotchy face !
I am still ABSOLUTELY exhausted - I can get up , make tea, wipe the kitchen counter but then have to go back to bed .. I have never had a tiredness like this before. I am drinking lots of water but am permanently thirsty. I also still have a pain in my back like there is something wrong with my kidney .. but I'm peeing Ok ( sorry for TMI) so I don't think there is . It is the unrelenting exhaustion I can't deal with . I thought it would be gone by now.
Anyway , happy new year everyone - may it be sober and awesome for all of us.
Xx

You're doing great, you really can do this, Icandothis! It ain't magic, baby. :)

Consider this tho - we drank for years - give yourself a little more time to feel better Icandothis.

Like I said on your last thread I was very much exhausted for the first month. I hope your recuperation is quicker, but exhausted on day 5 is very normal :)

Excellent job on day 5

If like me it took years to get to the point of getting Sober, then it's going to take the body more than 5 days to dig itself out and adjust.

Hang in there!! :)

Great job on day 5! Good way to start the new year!!!

All you describe happened to me. *(And more, ha)* It passes - take care of yourself. That, and don't drink, are the most important things right now.

Hope you can enjoy a nice day and great 1st tomorrow.

ICDT,
Make sure you are getting your b-suppliments! What part of you back hurts?

Icandothis2013 12-31-2016 04:27 AM

The middle of the left side of my back - where the kidney is I think. BUT it only hurt when I walk about . If i sit or lie down it is fine which makes me think it's a strain. Plus when I read about kidney damage on Dr Google , it seems you have more severe symptoms like difficulty peeing, blood in urine etc. Has anyone else had this (pain in one side of back during detox) ?

Hello and great job getting to day five, two days away from your first week!!

Is it possible to get into your doctor to see what is going on with your. Ack? If it is something related to your kidneys you will need some antibiotics.

Day 5 is awesome!!!!

Yeah, I don't think the magnitude of what we did to our bodies becomes evident until we quit. I'm almost 8 months and although I don't feel tired or achy anymore I am amazed at how with each passing month things are still changing.

As August just said, all you are describing happened to me too but you should always consult with a doctor if you're worried.

Day 5 is great. Congrats.

You have two choices : 1. Roll with things, keep resting and see how you feel over the next few days. or 2. Go to the dr, get blood work, let the dr know about your drinking. Either way, worrying, while normal, won't help.

I would see the dr. Why not? Can't hurt.

Thanks Frick, the fact it comes and goes to me means it's not that bad .. and I don't fancy going to the Emergency Room in London on New Years Eve - it will be carnage ! More rest and hopefully things will improve tomorrow !! HNY !

The alcohol is starting to leave your body...... go to the drug store and get liquid vitamin B12 and drop it under your tongue. This will help with fatigue also get vitamin B1 thiamine. Your body is starving for B vitamins.
Don't give up.......as I said yesterday it's been 58 days for me im coming out of the fog but, still a little foggy. Hang in with us.:You_Rock_

Things are guaranteed to improve if you don't drink brother

Omg! Yes I remember that exhaustion in very early days, all I can say is go with it, remind yourself your body is healing, its taken a battering for x amount of time so it does take time to physically recover. You are doing amazing, the way I see it if your sleeping a) your not drinking and b) your not thinking about drinking sooooo sleep those early days away as much as you can ;).

On day 4 I didn't get up from the sofa except to use the bathroom and go to bed.
I was too tired to read...I didn't know that was possible.

It got better from there, but the memory of Day Four has helped me stay sober more than once!

Hope you feel better soon...
