Uplifting Conversation
Uplifting Conversation
I talked with a spiritual advisor about my alcohol abuse issues yesterday. I was very open with him. He was very compassionate and caring, while at the same time emphasizing the many reasons that I need to stay stopped and keep fighting this.
In the course of the conversation, he said something like "Did you know recovering alcoholics are the most fun people?" He then talked (without names, of course) about friends of his in recovery and all the adventures they've gone on and done since giving up the bottle.
The entire conversation was very uplifting and gave me hope of a better life in recovery. It was hard to fight back tears of joy during it. I know it's a long road ahead of me, but it's a road I'm looking forward to traveling.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Sober, this was such a great post, reminded me to breathe. I did get in the car with my pups and did run right into my neighbor out on her walk. Our dogs bonded and we shared news. Being in nature, being with myself helped, being okay with feeling out of sorts helped. And yes, it always helps being with the dogs, Big Roger and Little Fox just like happiness and being able to sniff and run. Being sober is good.
