The holidays are pretty low-key for my wife and me. We have no family nearby, and few friends. I am going for a walk with AA fellows around a lake in nearby Moran State Park on Sunday morning, and have AA meetings every other day.
I really messed up some holidays with my drinking, and am glad I don't have that added stress right now.

This is great, having a place where people understand the push and pull of the holidays. I am in.
It was sad to hear of the 56 year old dying of alcohol related illness, too close to home.
I chose not to go to big holiday party last night. Today I got to see the pictures and then hear from my colleagues, some of them remorseful for driving, not remembering who they spoke to, and seeing goofy drunken pictures posted.......glad to be home and boring, frankly.
It was sad to hear of the 56 year old dying of alcohol related illness, too close to home.

A special weather statement was released today. There's a possibility of 15 - 30 cm or more of snow on Christmas day. With any luck, we'll be snowed in and I won't have to go to the in-laws. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Morning everyone...ooh I wish I had snow here, it is apparently set to be the mildest Christmas on record here.
I'm awake early and going to brave the shops early today to get the remainder of my food shopping. Then I'm going to meet some friends later.
No more drinking thoughts, but it was nice to hear other people's experiences about them being somewhat normal.

Its the last day at work before Christmas.
I intentionally stayed working up to the end and back to work on Monday.
Nevertheless I couldnt be happier. Joined SR in March, posted 3 times then drank and drugged for 3 mmonths. Posted again in June. The best six months of my life i have just lived. Happy to have had folks on SR saying hold out, keep trying, you'll get it in the end...
So I have to cook a turkey on Sunday
Spuds and brussel sprouts...
