Talking How much cash have you saved?

Today marks 175 days sober. I estimate that on average I spent
$20.00 a day on booze (only beer). Some days more and some days less. That totals to $3500.00 in my pocket which I've spent on long overdue home projects. So many other things have improved for me
during this time as well.

Isn't that amazing? During one of my 'abstinence' periods I put the money I would have spent on booze in a tea pot. In three months I had enough to cover all costs for Christmas/Holidays. I was a bender drinker at that time, not a daily drinker, but it still really adds up!

Good job on 175 days.

$2294.50 as of today...and those are after tax dollars, so figure had to earn 25% more than that just to waste it on wine!

Somewhere in the neighborhood of $10,000 that I didn't spend drinking in a little over two years. BUT I have to subtract some legal fees and car repairs and the cost of my interlock device, none of which I would have incurred without drinking. So probably about $6500 net. Still not too shabby.

I'm a newbie here (sobriety date 12/11). I put $20 in a jar each week I don't drink. It's a great motivator

I was in to nice wine and micro brews and I abused them both mercilessly. In just 71 days I've saved just over $5K. Absolutely crazy....good riddance. Saving for a boat now.

I used to go to the pub nightly and on drinking and junk food it probably came to £280 a week which is a staggering £14560 a year!
I dont see it as saving any money at the moment but it just means im not going deeper in debt. I still treat myself and have just bought an apple series 2 watch( mainly to help with half marathon training for next march). It will cost me just over £41 a month on credit which is a days worth of drinking.
If im still sober in April ( and have found a job) I will treat myself to a holiday in the sun.

I'm not sure, but I think I was spending about 200 bucks or so a month. So I've not spent over 2000 dollars probably. Quite a bit of money, but I was used to spending that.

Lets see about 70.00 bucks a week times 7 weeks = $490.00. Not bad..... what a waste of money

Good point, the alcohol for home consumption was about $3700. Since July, hotel drinks another $500. Saved. Wow, all the other things like lost time, liver damage that can't be measured.........so glad I quit!!!

With all the money I've saved not drinking, I've bought a lot of cool new clothes. I do believe I'm looking snazzier than ever these days!

In three years I've gone from crushing debt of over $60,000.00 (down from a high of over $100,000), owing the IRS over $15,000.00, constantly juggling bills and payments, living check-to-check, no end in sight....

To being debt-free, having two homes, a comfortable buffer of cash in the bank, ability to afford things I need and many of the things I just want, no longer constantly sweating the bill collectors, and able to frequently offer financial assistance, donations and help to others.

The previous scenario of debt and financial disaster had been a decades-long thing.

I embraced sobriety and now it just gets better and better.

I'm pretty sure there's a correlation.
