Living A Better Life
Hi all. This is my first thread and I don't really know what to say but I guess what i'm looking for is some help and guidance on my new journey to a better life without alcohol. Any hints or tips would go along way. Thanks
Hi Mickys
Joining here, and posting regularly, really was a game changer for me. My old life was all about drinking so I had to change a lot - having people to talk to and ask for help made that transition less scary.
Have you been a drinker for a long time?

Hi Dee
Ive never been on one of these forums before but from what I'm seeing it could really help talking to someone thanks. Been drinking rough now about 8 years and I'm just sick of it. It's not effecting my work but just day to day living sucks. I really wanna see what having a sober life looks like.

For me, living a better life was being honest with people around me,
having empathy instead of being lost in my own problems and drinking.
Listening with full attention instead of talking or interrupting,
Learning to love myself was a big one--I used to hate my actions
when drinking and was really harsh on me for many years.
I also started taking care of my body with exercise, eating healthy food,
and took up some long-lost hobbies (guitar) and new ones (jewelry making)
The sky is the limit Mickys--you will have a lot of time to do things now.
What do you value, what do you enjoy, what would you like to create?
Drinking for me filled up my life and wasted a whole lot of time.
Now, I follow my heart instead of the bottle

Welcome! You can find a completely different and better life sober.
Read around and get to know the forums. Have you looked at the Newcomers Daily section and the Class of Dec? That one's for people quitting this month.
Good luck!
