Unhappy First post

Hello, I stopped drinking right about 48 hours ago. I am paying the price and feel awful at the moment. I know it gets better, just not soon enough!

We live in a small, coastal community in Southern Oregon. Any locals out there?

Welcome! I'm glad you posted and good job on 48 hrs sober. Don't hesitate to contact your dr if you have any concerns about withdrawals.

Welcome! I second the suggestion about checking in with your doc if you think the withdrawals are getting bad. Alcohol leaves the body so quickly that going cold turkey can be hard on the system.

I've been through what you're going through and it does pass. Hang in there!

Good to meet you, macsmith. We all remember how those early days felt. Thankfully, you never need to go through this again. Posting helps - you're never alone.

Thanks guys (and girls). I have a feeling I will be a regular here. I had a stretch of about 3.5 years of sobriety some time ago. It was a wonderful time in my life. I would like that back again.

Welcome MacSmith. This is a great place and there is always someone around. I'm close by in the Western US. I've been to Bend a few times and really liked it.

Hi guys, thanks for the well wishes. Today was better than yesterday. I am still out of sorts and fatigued, but the sweats have gone away. If I can get a halfway decent night's sleep tonight, I should be better yet tomorrow. Right now, I feel optimism, like a real decision has been made.
