When I first decided I wanted to change my ways I was challenged shortly after. I decided to make a phone call to the"bud" man. I planned on meeting him and everything. However my desire too quit overcame my desire to smoke. I drink, smoke bud and cigerattes. I do no do one without the other. My thought process was adding how much money id be spending. $40 for bud, almost $7 for a pack of cigs. All of this was a huge turn off. I eventually decided to not meet him and I am fine with my decision.

Welcome Munchy. SR is a safe and supportive community. Well done on taking action to stop drinking. If you are having the shakes or any other w/drawl symptoms- go see a doctor or ER. Can be dangerous if you drink a lot to go cold turkey. I suggest you read around the threads. There is a lot of info here. Including working out a plan, spirituality, 24 hour sign in. Keep not drinking and keep posting. PJ

Thank you so much for your kind words. So I am going to ask a question but do not want to offends anyone. I drink 1-2/24oz beers a day. Would I experience extreme withdrawal symptoms? I look forward to shading this journey with you all

So cute "no meanies." I like that. For starters, your desire to be sober has to be greater than your desire to drink. From there, make a recovery plan. Focus on those witching hours like Friday night at 5pm and have a solid plan of something to do (gym, go for a walk, go to the movies, etc.) that will keep you busy that isn't drinking related. Good luck, Munchie!!

Welcome Munchie

Withdrawal is unpredictable and none of us are doctors so it's not possible for us to tell if you'll have withdrawals or not.

It not only depends on volume but things like how long you've drunk like that and your general health.

I hope it won't be bad but if you're concerned you can always see your Dr?

Hi Munchie, have you read thru some of the stickies at the top of this forum? such as http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...at-we-did.html

I'm not quite 2 months in but I've learned ALOT just hanging out here reading and posting. I try to come here every morning to start my day on the right mental wave and every evening before bed.
