Hi Mayeve-I'm honoured that my silly old thread was your first post! Welcome! It really is a great place here, so much wisdom and support. The kindness of recovering alcoholics is quite breath-taking really.
Thanks SoberWolf, I'm pretty relieved to be honest. To accept that life has become unmanageable is relieving. I don't have to hide, duck and dive any more.

Cheers bexxed, one day at a time and planning my meetings for the week ahead.
Tomsteve-I like that-a phone sure is lighter than the bottle. I've arranged to work through step 1 with someone until I find a sponsor.

It makes me happy to see your optimistic attitude, Sadsadgirl. Be proud of your actions - you can do this.

Be determined to embroil yourself in a new way of life. There are many nuggets of advice on this forum to help you through it but essentially you have to drop the old life that kindled your drinking and mix with new people and do things that don't involve drink x
Day 2 for me. Looking forward to feeling better. Lots of water and bananas. My head is clearing up but I shake alittle and sweat. I am trying to hide it until it passes. I feel like this it it tor me. No more alcohol. I can't suffer like this anymore. I want to have a sober life more than anything.
