Day 12
Hi all back on my Antabuse and things seem a little better. My anxiety is starting to calm down a bit and can finally look people in the eye again. Have been trying aa meetings but I just don't seem to get anything out of them like others do but am enjoying the smart meetings and have started seeing a counselor 1 to 1. Any tips about calming my anxiety or should I just wait it out the most iv gotten is 4 months sober but I'm hoping this is permanent because every time I kid myself I can control it then within a month I'm back to the way I was. Sorry if this is a wasted post just don't really have any1 to talk about this stuff with
Not a wasted post, Alex. 12 days is wonderful. Good that you're seeing a counselor.
My anxiety died down after a couple weeks. I agree with Winslow - exercise helps. Even just walking.

I agree with exercise for anxiety as well. I take a walk through my neighborhood when mine goes up. I also like a nice mug of hot, caffeine-free tea to calm me. Caffeine will make my anxiety go through the roof, so I avoid it entirely when I have anxiety. Lastly, just distracting myself with a good book or movie works wonders. It takes my mind off my current situation, if only for a few hours.
Good luck with the anxiety and I wish you well in your sobriety.

Alex,
Well done.
We love to obsess over our addiction.
The obsessive action slows down time in crave hell.
That is why we have to find sober hobbies.
Exercise, walks, painting, crafting etc etc.
Filling our day, our sober life, w action that eases us.
Otherwise, we are more open to relapse.
Once we are good and sober....we can sit and do nothing...and be happy.
They call it...serenity....contentment.
I still have anxiety, but it is 99% better. I struggled w moderate anxiety for the better part of a year.
It takes a long time to normalize.
Thanks.

Hi and welcoem back Alex
I think many of us have to deal with anxiety when we quit. Foe some, it fades away pretty quick but for others it can stick around. I was anxious before I ever had my first drink, so it hung around a while.
If its worrying you, why not see a Dr about it?

Congratulations on 12 days!
It's very positive that you're looking at all different recovery options. With regards to the anxiety, it will pass but in the meantime avoid caffeine all together if you can, same for loads of sugar (but that can help with cravings so it's a double edged sword!) and I definitely recommend going for a walk to get some of the energy out and having a long bath to relax the muscles.
