Maybe I missed it somewhere but do you have a sponsor? Getting a sponsor and therefore into a sponsorship line is the best and fastest way to start building real friendships in AA. Sponsorship lines often have get togethers and hang out together and will introduce you to people outside the group also. If you do have a sponsor and these things aren't happening you might want to keep your eye out for other groups who are more active.

For me I had to find some new interests or rekindle old interests when I got Sober, the majority of my friends revolved around drinking, so when that went I wasn't left with very many people.

However through hobbies/interests people aren't meeting up because of alcohol, they are meeting up for the shared interest in something, so for example I rekindled my love of playing chess, joined a bunch of sports related fan clubs, and inevitably I found like minded people to be friends with, and as I got to start off with a clean slate and introducing myself as a "non drinker" it worked out amazingly well in meeting new people.

People are everywhere, and most people want to have friends!!
