10 days sober!
I'm so glad that I found this forum. I am 10 days sober. This is the 2nd longest period of time I've been sober in the last 18 years. Earlier this year, I decided that I was tired of being hungover every day and wanted to figure out how to moderate. As you can guess, that didn't work very well. I had 35 days sober in Feb/Mar, but drank again on vacation. It has been a struggle to get back to 10 days of sobriety...but worth it. I'm going to use this forum as one of my "sober tools".
The holidays are an emotional time and I just had to cancel my trip to see family for Thanksgiving because of weather and sickness. So, one day at a time for the long holiday weekend...

Welcome rainy - glad you are back on track. This is a good place to find support. There's always someone online and everyone is coming from the same place.
Sorry to hear about your cancelled trip. Hopefully you will be able to use the time to get well and stay sober.

Welcome, and I'm sorry you had to cancel your Thanksgiving plans.
I'm glad you know you need to stop drinking and are ready to do the work. It's good to have a plan in mind when you start so you can prepare for the ups and downs.

Well, looks like I got excited about 10 days too quickly. Last night I let my emotions over not seeing my family for the holiday get the best of me and drank. I'm not sure yet how to deal with the overwhelming emotions that I'm feeling when sober. I've always used alcohol to deal with emotions (happy, sad, bored, etc.). So, now what do I do with all of the emotions that are surfacing when sober?
I'm absolutely sure that I cannot drink ANY alcohol. So, back to day 1.
