Today's THE Day

Well, I had been hoping to do a med detox, but it's expensive and I am self-employed and do not have great insurance. So I am going to give this a go myself.

I have been drinking in the mornings to manage anxiety, and imbibing throughout the day. Never sloppy drunk, but the equivalent of two bottles of wine a day for at least the last 6 months. Heavy drinking for a couple of years.

But I will not drink alcohol today. And so my sober life begins with just getting through the day. I last had a drink yesterday evening around 6 pm CST. It was the 8th of the day. So 8 1/2 hours from now it will officially be 24 hours.

I am not experiencing withdrawal right now. Although I do feel nauseous and have dry-wretched a few times. But I get that every morning from anxiety.

Wish me luck!

I'm glad you've made the decision to stop drinking.

Don't hesitate to seek medical help if you are having any problems.

You can do it! I know it is hard but when you wake up and KNOW that you do not have a hangover - you will be SO glad!

You will succeed if you want to be sober more than you want to drink. :)
