Loving my sober life!
Hi, so happy to have found another resource to add to my recovery journey, this season is by far the toughest I have faced in my 9 months of sobriety. I am grateful for the daily reprieve once again, blessings!

After spending 28 days instay at a rehab
facility in August 1990, I continued on with
my 6 week aftercare outpatient program,
moving forward and towards all the holidays
ahead of me.
I recall that Thanksgiving, being sober and
feeling awesome that I still had the desire
to get in the kitchen and cook a huge meal
for my little 4 member family.
As an Italian, I learned to cook lots of food
for leftovers and sure enough we had them
for a week.
Anyway, I understand your feelings
at this time of the year, the same as
so many others living a sober life. It's
a feeling like riding on that pink cloud
of gratefulness, freedom, contentment.
Congrats on your sober time.
What has kept me sober for many one
days at a time for the last 26 yrs, is to
always find the time to incorporate
a helpful, useful, effective program
of recovery in all areas of my life.
I made sure family was taken care
of before heading out to my AA
meetings, even during the holidays
especially because this time of the
year with all that comes with it, I
had and have to make sure I have
my program of recovery working
in my mind, body and soul.
For if it is not, I surely wouldn't have
experienced many awesome sober
holidays with family.
I was always grateful for the many
AA meetings they have available during
the yr. and especially this time of the
yr with the holidays. Meetings in the
morning or noon, afternoon or night,
gave me so many options to choose
from so that I could make one around
my family activities while still taking
care of myself to remain sober no matter
what.
There was no excuses that I could
come up with when placing my sobriety
first. It has and still is top priority in
continueing to achieve the many awesome
gifts offered to us in recovery as written
in our Big Book of AA.

Geez BR- do you have to be so with it, grounded and stuff? An inspiration to read simple wisdom from people like you. Thanks. I totally agree and live everything you say. Just a soberbabe- learning and living the way of life sober stuff in everything I do is so important to me. From the least irritating (that being the point- why- learn change) to the greatest challenges. All the same.

Amen, I also take my emotional sobriety just as seriously as my physical. The holidays aren't really my struggle, to a degree, yes, but more the season I am in personally. I so appreciate your sharing your experience, strength and hope! Those if you in long term recovery, are, to say the least, such a blessing to us learning to use our wings, or even learning we have any at all! Thanks so much!
