tempted to drink

I have 2 days sober. In the morning I could wake up and be on day 3.

But I have a little bit of Captain Morgan left over. Enough for one strong drink and one weak drink. And a glass of red wine. I could drink that... it would be nice but not a strong buzz. A pretty light night of drinking. And it would set me back to day 1... again. Or I could pour the Captain Morgan and wine out and take myself to bed. Even if I cant fall asleep, I would wake up on day 3 instead of my millionth day 1.

I want to make the right choice. And another part of me wants to drink. I haven't done either yet.

Try eating something sweet instead and throw away the alcohol.

Thank you for responding. Something about typing out my thoughts, telling on myself, or getting a response and knowing that someone heard me... was all it took this time.

I ate a piece of chocolate cake and poured out the liquor and wine. So I know for sure that in the morning I will be on day 3.

I may fail again. But it won't be tonight.

Glad you poured it out! It gets easier and the cravings less intense as time goes on.

Nice job pouring out the alcohol. You will be so happy to wake up on day three tomorrow.

Your right. I will be thankful in the morning that I did not decide to drink. I am not tired but know that I should try to sleep. I have to work tomorrow afternoon and I told my friend that I would be at the 7:45am meeting in the morning. Even if I don't get sleep tonight and have to struggle to stay awake at work tomorrow, at least I will not have the guilt and self loathing of knowing that I gave into the temptation to drink.

Can we change the word fail to 'challenged' ?
You learn from challenges, it's harder to learn of you've labelled it a failure.

Word to brain science.

Well done pouring out the dregs. That took strength and courage.

You're growing! X

Good job. I don't know how many times I had beer left in the fridge, was hungover, and drank a few to feel better. Before long I was back buying more. The last time I had 4 tall boy Miller lites left, I poured them out and have not had any since. It feels good to wake up sober, and no hangover. That is probably the best feeling for me, after years of waking up sick. Keep it up! Day will follow day. Before long you will be at a month and beyond. Best to you!

That's awesome! I'm sure you'll have a far better morning now that you've decided not to drink.

Those 'leftover' drinks in my house have gotten me into trouble more times than I can count.

Great job ItsJustMe! I'm on day two today and frequently thought about grabbing a drink. I had to distract myself and I'd drink some water or tea.

I agree, I find it helpful to come here and post my thoughts / challenges and who is going through / gone through something similar and offer support.
