1 year - it works, it really does

Dear SR,

I'm happy to report today marks 1 year of continous sobriety for me.

What a journey it has been!

It took me almost of a year of intense (re)searching, trial and error, before I finally found my path to recovery, which today is an intense 12 step work in AA, steadily supported by a whole spectrum of smaller, ongoing projects: sports, nutrition, self care, psychotherapy, DBT, socializing with wonderful, like minded people, expanding my interest in spirituality and of course the place where it all started for me - SR.

Recovery is definitely in the centre of my life, but my life does not revolve around recovery - I have a fullfilling career and family life that I never dreamt possible - all thanks to my sobriety and my program.

I wish I could find the right words to transmit how infinitely better my life has become.
All I will say is - never, ever give up. If I can do it - so can you.

There is hope and there is redemption.

If you are a still sufferring alcoholic I pray for you every single day and if our paths ever cross, I'd be honored to share my Experience, Strength and Hope, as I'm a firm believer that it all starts with one alcoholic talking to another.

Thank you for being here 24/7. Thank you for my sobriety.

Love to you all :grouphug:

Anna - Happy, Joyous, Free

Love the post!! Congratulations!

I feel much the same as you, at just shy (2 days) of 9 months. I am excited for the future, too.

Best to you as you start your second year!!

Congrats! Great post, it goes to show that there's not necessarily a one-size-fits-all approach to sobriety but if you want to quit there is a way!:scoregood

Congratulations IfYouCanDream -- a super accomplishment.

It's a great feeling -- a great feeling for us to be sober.
As I say often -- the war is over.

....and yet another person who thinks life is much better in sobriety than in alcohol jail. Have yet to meet someone who's life hasn't gotten better being sober. Awesome job!
